  • Leading development of a hydrogen production technology engineered for step-change improvements in efficiency and cost, enabling scalable deployment and integration into established industrial systems.

Managing Director Europe, GeoKiln  ·  2026 to present

  • Leading European expansion of GeoKiln's stimulated geological hydrogen platform, securing partners and capital, and advising executives and investors on market entry, risk and project development across the UK and Europe. GeoKiln is backed by Breakthrough Energy.

Manager Strategy and Integration, bp  ·  2024 to 2025

  • Led the operating model redesign supporting a $4.5bn gross-margin fuels business, improving resilience, decision clarity and cost efficiency across global hubs through 2030.
  • Redesigned the operating model for a 145-person fuels technology organisation, integrating hydrogen and advanced fuels into one delivery structure, and coordinated alignment across seven senior leaders.
  • Developed the model and business case to centralise life cycle assessment capability, creating decision support projected to deliver annual nine-figure value by 2030.
  • Delivered commercial assessments for hydrogen-to-power concepts using CfD-style strike-price and volume-risk modelling, including dispatchability and Capacity Market implications.
  • Coordinated multi-business alignment of the technology function's biotech pipeline with commercial priorities.

Advisor Future Mobility, Advanced Fuels Leadership Team, bp  ·  2021 to 2024

  • Served on the Board of Directors of the US Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Partnership, representing bp and shaping national hydrogen deployment strategy.
  • Chaired the Energy Institute working group that authored the UK's formal guidance on hydrogen refuelling systems co-located with petrol stations.
  • Chaired the Energy Institute working group that produced the first cross-industry, regulator-supported quantitative methodology for hydrogen safety distances.
  • Led fuels, land, safety, site design and regulatory workstreams for a low carbon mobility hub proof of concept, holding lead responsibility for safety case logic and separation distances.
  • Directed bp engagement in ISO, BSI and Energy Institute hydrogen standards development.

Founder and Director, RHC New Energy Consulting  ·  2019 to 2021

  • Chaired the advisory board for the 800 MW Southern Green Hydrogen project, advising the joint venture CEOs on investment timing, technology strategy and partner alignment, and supporting the decision to defer capital expenditure by five to seven years.
  • Advised the Petronas board on techno-economic feasibility and offtake structuring for a $1.3bn hydrogen and ammonia production and export facility, with scenario analysis on policy, offtake and stranding risk.
  • Delivered techno-economic assessments for a Shell waste-to-energy project, identifying more than $500m of net value and enabling partner renegotiation.
  • Conducted regulatory and policy evaluations for the European Commission, contributing evidence used by DG MOVE and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

  • Member of the European Leadership Team, reporting to the Managing Director and leading the EMEA product development directorate across eleven sites in seven countries.
  • Led the European R&D and product management restructure, improving operating efficiency, accountability and compliance.
  • Managed an urgent product certification crisis, building a cross-functional task force and reducing legal and reputational exposure.
  • Partnered with the C-suite on procurement strategy, consolidating suppliers and delivering more than £8m in savings.

Senior Hydrogen Technology Engineer and Regional Innovation Network Manager, Shell  ·  2011 to 2017

  • Negotiated multi-million-dollar partnerships with BMW, Air Liquide and Linde, delivering award-winning hydrogen infrastructure.
  • Convened an intercompany alliance to develop an industry-standard hydrogen fuelling system, improving safety and reducing cost through standardisation.
  • Produced the hydrogen supply and station placement analysis for Germany covering 2017 to 2030, adopted by H2Mobility Germany for national rollout planning.
  • Acted as technical lead for regulatory and planning engagement on Shell's first UK grid-integrated hydrogen refuelling pilot.
  • Represented Shell on ISO/TC 197 and BSI GSE/6 and contributed to Energy Institute Blue Book hydrogen infrastructure guidance.
  • Initiated a technology transfer from NASA for subsea inspection, delivering savings of more than $100m.

Platform Leader, Advanced Biofuels, Shell  ·  2007 to 2011

  • Directed the advanced biofuels platform, managing multi-million-dollar budgets, intellectual property agreements and techno-economic validation for ground and aviation fuels.
  • Led due diligence and industry partnerships for biotechnology co-development and technology transfer.
  • Served as Global Genetically Modified Organisms Safety Officer, overseeing biosafety governance across R&D programmes.
